Vivo D’Arte School of Theatre Arts

Committed to developing the next generation of musical theatre artists by providing unrivalled industry development, unique live stage experiences and innovative theatre production training.

About us

We are an independent school of theatre arts based in Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire.

Established in 2012 by our Principal and Artistic Director Dan Cowtan, we take an exciting and unique approach to theatre arts, which is different to traditional stage and theatre schools.

Our team of highly skilled teachers create a varied programme of professional training in all musical theatre disciplines – acting, singing and dance – live stage experiences and theatre production training.

As these first-class opportunities closely emulate the realities of working in the theatre arts industry, our students gain an excellent introduction and insight into the world of theatre helping them to be a more accomplished and well-rounded theatre professional.

Many of these amazing experiences come from our parent company, Vivo D’Arte Ltd, a theatre arts training organisation and production company.

We provide the most innovative musical theatre and theatre production training in the area. Our Aylesbury based HQ boasts not only practical and safe performance spaces for our students, but also well-equipped technical and performance facilities for a range of production skill training, including sound and lighting.

We are partnered with The Waterside Theatre, Aylesbury, which has one of the biggest stages in the area. We have produced many performances at this venue, including Whistle Down the Wind, Oliver! and Made in Britain – a showcase of all musicals made in Britain.

With our industry knowledge and excellent industry links, we help young people discover their true passion within theatre whether it is on or off stage. We are dedicated to ensuring we give our students the right support, experience and skills needed to achieve their desired career goal.

Our Sessions

We run Musical Theatre sessions all day, mostly on a Saturday, for our students between the ages of 4 to 6 and 7 to 18. Contact us for more details of our timetable.

We also provide both one-to-one and group training sessions for acting, singing and musical theatre, including LAMDA based training. These sessions are non-contractual and flexible, so you can join in as little or as much as you like. Sessions can either be booked on a pay-as-you-go basis or paid each term.

All sessions take place at our dedicated new training HQ.

Our sessions are held in a fun, friendly and safe environment, and offer the high level of support students need to hone their skills, grow in confidence as individuals and performers, and realise their full potential.

We’ve been privileged to welcome lots of young performers over the last eight years to showcase their talent and get a first-hand experience of theatre. For us this feels like the next natural step. Being able to nurture home-grown talent within our very own venue walls is incredibly rewarding.

Lee Duffy
Aylesbury Waterside Theatre General Manager

Vivo D’Arte has always been committed to training and production and we always strive to give our performers the very best in industry training, insight, and experiences. To be given this opportunity to grow our partnership with the Waterside Theatre and open our weekly School of Theatre Arts in our new space is extremely exciting.

Dan Cowtan
Managing Director and Principal of Vivo D’Arte SOTA

Vivo, you are just simply the best, and being at the school has brought out (in such a short time) my daughters passion/enthusiasm and confidence! So looking forward the future!

During my time with Vivo D’Arte, what I did, not just in shows – but in my career – mattered to them. The high-quality performance opportunities Vivo D’Arte has given me, and the continual backing of many of the inspirational people involved, have been invaluable
